DESCRIPTION:

ORDINARY DAYS tells the story of four New Yorkers whose lives intersect as they search for happiness, love, and cabs. Through a score of vibrant songs, their experiences ring startlingly true to life. Adam Gwon's musical is for anyone who's ever struggled to appreciate simple things in a complex place.

Take the Stage Long Beach is an educational theatre and production company with more than 10 years of teaching and production experience in the greater Long Beach area. It is owned and operated by Bethany and Jamieson Price, Long Beach-based theatre professionals and CSULB Theatre Arts Department alumni. Returning for its sixth incarnation at Long Beach Playhouse, this quick-paced, highly theatrical re-telling of Charles Dickens’ classic tale will delight the entire family.  In 19th century England, the ghosts of Christmases Past, Present, and Future show Ebenezer Scrooge the poverty of his material wealth and the blessings that come with generosity. Can they convince him to change before it’s too late? Come spend time with the characters you’ve come to love – Bob Cratchit, Tiny Tim, and of course the irascible miser himself.  This production will be the Christmas party needed to set you and your loved ones on the path to holiday cheer.

This is a family friendly 90 minute show including an intermission.

In the pre-Nazi Germany of the 1930s, decadence is rampant.  The raucous entertainment of the seamy Kit Kat Club reflects the lives of those drifters that frequent and perform on its stage. From the enigmatic Emcee, to the wounded Sally Bowles, to a mature couple dealing with the difficulties of the prevalent antisemitism that flourishes around them, these familiar characters will reignite the sense of despair and danger so commonly found in fascist regimes.  All balanced with the unforgettable songs of Kander and Ebb, this is a look at history that you can’t afford to miss.  Come to the Cabaret!
