ABOUT THE PLAY _____________________________________________________________

.

.
A satyr play, The Cyclops is a comedy based on the story of Cyclops, made famous in Homer’s Odyssey. Being the only satyr play to survive from antiquity, The Cyclops is the tragic story of Silenus, the servant to Cyclops and chief of the satyrs, and Odysseus who is wrongfully accused of stealing food and ends up in a mortal struggle with the Cyclops himself. The chorus of satyrs only prove to create more trouble in this burlesque, absurd retelling of the Greek Myth.
